Roy Dotrice (26 May 1923 – 16 October 2017) was a British actor known for his notable performances on stage and screen. He portrayed John Aubrey in the solo play Brief Lives and received critical acclaim, along with a Tony Award, for his role in the 2000 Broadway revival of A Moon for the Misbegotten. Dotrice's versatile acting career included portraying Leopold Mozart in Amadeus (1984), Charles Dickens in Dickens of London (1984), and Jacob Wells/Father in Beauty and the Beast. He also gained recognition for narrating the audiobooks of George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, earning him a Guinness World Record for the most character voices in an audiobook by an individual. Dotrice was born in Guernsey, Bailiwick of Guernsey, and served with the Royal Air Force during World War II.
