Rupi Kaur

Rupi Kaur is a Canadian poet, illustrator, photographer, and author. Born in Punjab, India, she immigrated to Canada at a young age with her family. Kaur gained fame through her poetry performances and her Instagram presence. In 2015, she posted a series of photographs on Instagram, featuring menstrual blood stains, which sparked a viral critique of the company's actions. This incident led to increased attention for her poetry and the widespread success of her debut collection, Milk and Honey (2014). Kaur's work, known for its simplistic language, explores themes of South Asian identity, immigration, and femininity.
