Rusty Wallace Biography
Rusty Wallace, born Russell William Wallace Jr. on August 14, 1956, is a former American NASCAR racing driver. Known for his successful career, Wallace won the NASCAR Cup series Rookie of the Year in 1984 and the NASCAR Winston Cup Championship in 1989. He has been inducted into several prestigious halls of fame, including the NASCAR Hall of Fame (2013), the International Motorsports Hall of Fame (2013), the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (2014), and the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame (2010). Before joining NASCAR, Wallace gained recognition by winning local track championships in Florida and over 200 short track races. He also achieved the USAC Stock Car Rookie of the Year honors in 1979 and finished second in the USAC Stock Cars championship standings in 1981.
