Rutger Hauer Biography
Rutger Oelsen Hauer (23 January 1944 – 19 July 2019) was a Dutch actor. He gained international recognition with his leading roles in films like Soldier of Orange (1977), Spetters (1980), and Blade Runner (1982), where he played the self-aware replicant Roy Batty. Hauer's career began with the Dutch television series Floris in 1969, and he later starred in Turkish Delight (1973), which was named the Best Dutch Film of the Century. He went on to appear in films such as Nighthawks (1981), The Hitcher (1986), and Batman Begins (2005), among others. In 1999, he was honored as the Best Dutch Actor of the Century by the Dutch public.
