Ruth Gemmell

Ruth Katrin Gemmell is an English actress, born in Bristol in October 1967. She grew up in County Durham and attended Polam Hall School. Gemmell moved to London to pursue acting and trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art. She has appeared in various theatre and TV dramas throughout her career. Gemmell starred in the film Fever Pitch in 1997 and had supporting roles in television series such as EastEnders, Casualty, Home Fires, and Penny Dreadful. Since 2004, she has played Carly Beaker, the mother of the title character in the Tracy Beaker franchise. In 2020, she began portraying Lady Violet Bridgerton in the Netflix series Bridgerton.
