Ruth Westheimer

Ruth Westheimer, better known as Dr. Ruth, is a German-American sex therapist, talk show host, author, professor, and Holocaust survivor. Born on June 4, 1928, in Germany, Westheimer was sent to Switzerland for safety during the rise of the Nazis. Tragically, her parents were sent to concentration camps and killed. After World War II, she moved to British-controlled Palestine. Despite her small stature of 4 feet 7 inches, she joined the Haganah and trained as a sniper. In 1947, she was wounded in action during the Palestine war. She later moved to Paris to study psychology and eventually settled in the United States. Dr. Ruth is renowned for her expertise in human sexuality and has made significant contributions through her various roles and publications.
