Sabine Schmitz

Sabine Schmitz (14 May 1969 – 16 March 2021) was a German professional motor racing driver and television personality. Born in Adenau, Germany, she grew up in a family immersed in the hotel and catering business near the Nürburgring. Initially trained for the same profession, Schmitz decided to pursue a career in racing, becoming a driver for BMW and Porsche. She gained recognition as an expert on the Nürburgring circuit, securing two victories in endurance races throughout her driving career. Schmitz became a beloved figure on television after appearing on BBC's Top Gear, where she made recurring appearances alongside the show's presenters. In March 2021, she sadly passed away at the age of 51 after battling cancer since late 2017.
