He portrayed Sam Gorpley on Perfect Strangers, Principal Willis DeWitt on Growing Pains, Holland Manners on Angel, and dentist Bernard Nadler on Lost. Anderson also appeared as Doctor Harad who delivered Phoebe's triplets in Friends' 100th episode. In film, he notably played the principal in Forrest Gump.
