Sam Jay

Sam Jay, born Samaria Johnson on January 13, 1982, is an American comedian and writer. She gained recognition as a writer for Saturday Night Live from 2017 to present. In 2020, Jay released her Netflix comedy special titled '3 in the Morning.' She is also notable for co-creating and co-starring in the HBO comedy series 'PAUSE with Sam Jay' (2021-2022) and the Peacock comedy series 'Bust Down' (2022). Originally from Atlanta, Jay grew up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. Prior to her comedy career, she worked in an office and as a music manager. Jay made her stand-up debut in 2012, and she became the first black lesbian writer in the history of Saturday Night Live.
