Sandra Dee (1942-2005) was an American actress known for her portrayal of ingénues. Starting as a child model, she transitioned to film and gained prominence for her performances in Robert Wise's Until They Sail (1958), which earned her a Golden Globe Award, and Imitation of Life and Gidget (both 1959). In the late 1960s, her career declined, and her marriage to Bobby Darin ended in divorce, resulting in the termination of her contract with Universal Pictures. Dee made sporadic appearances in television productions until the early 1980s. She faced challenges with alcoholism, mental illness, and reclusiveness in her later years.
