Sanjay Gupta

Sanjay Gupta (born October 23, 1969) is an American neurosurgeon, medical reporter, and writer. He serves as associate chief of the neurosurgery service at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, and is an associate professor of neurosurgery at the Emory University School of Medicine. Gupta is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is best known as the chief medical correspondent for CNN and has made numerous TV appearances on health-related issues. During the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, he has been a frequent contributor to CNN shows and has hosted a weekly town hall with Anderson Cooper. Gupta has also hosted the CNN show Sanjay Gupta MD, for which he has won multiple Emmy Awards. Additionally, he hosted the 6-part miniseries Chasing Life and has been a frequent contributor to other CNN programs such as American Morning, Larry King Live, CNN Tonight, and Anderson Cooper 360°. Gupta has reported from Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana.
