    Saoul Mamby Biography
    Saoul Paul Mamby (June 4, 1947 – December 19, 2019) was an American professional boxer who held the WBC super lightweight title from 1980 to 1982. Born in South Bronx, New York, Mamby began his boxing career in 1963 and turned pro in 1969. He had a successful amateur record of 25–5 before joining the professional ranks. Mamby served as a soldier in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Vietnam during the Vietnam War in 1968. Throughout his career, he made five successful defenses of his title, travelling to countries like South Korea, Indonesia, and Nigeria. Mamby retired from boxing in 2008 after a long and accomplished career.
