Sarah Crowden Biography
Sarah Crowden (born 8 May 1955) is a Scottish actress known for her roles in various television series and movies. She is best recognized for portraying Lady Manville in the British series Downton Abbey and Miss Thimble in the detective series Sister Boniface Mysteries. Crowden was born in Edinburgh to actor Clement Graham Crowden and actress Phyllida Hewat. She studied at The Open University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree and a diploma in Literature. Crowden began her acting career in 1974 with The Actors’ Company and gained attention for her role as Helen in the film adaptation of Agatha Christie's The Seven Dials Mystery. She has since appeared in notable supporting roles in other productions including A Dance to the Music of Time, The Sarah Jane Adventures, and Downtown Abbey.
