Selim Bayraktar

Selim Bayraktar is an Iraqi-Turkish actor born on June 17, 1975, in Kirkuk, Iraq. He is best known for his role as 'Sümbül Ağa' in the popular Turkish TV series Muhteşem Yüzyıl. Bayraktar gained international recognition for his role in the Netflix original series Rise of Empires: Ottoman. He comes from an Iraqi Turkmen background and his family decided to smuggle him into Turkey during the final days of the Iran-Iraq War, when he was chosen to serve in the army. After graduating from Hacettepe University, Bayraktar started working at the Turkish State Theatre. He is fluent in Turkish, Ottoman Turkish, Arabic, Kurdish, and English.
