Shane Smith

Shane Smith (born September 28, 1969) is a Canadian journalist, media executive, and former billionaire. He is currently the executive chairman of Vice Media, an international media company known for its digital channels, television production studio, record label, creative services agency, book-publishing house, and feature film division. Smith served as the CEO of Vice from its inception until March 2018 when Nancy Dubuc took over the position. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Smith attended Lisgar Collegiate Institute before graduating from Carleton University with a degree in English literature and political science. Prior to Vice, Smith was involved in the local punk scene, travelled in Eastern Europe, and eventually settled in Montreal.
