Sharon Van Etten

Sharon Van Etten is an American singer-songwriter known for her captivating and emotive music. Born on February 26, 1981, in Belleville, New Jersey, she grew up as the middle child of five. Van Etten attended North Hunterdon High School, where she participated in the chorus and performed in stage musicals. Later, she moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to study recording at Middle Tennessee State University. However, she dropped out after a year and began working at the Red Rose, a coffee and record shop. Despite being discouraged from writing songs by an abusive rock musician, she eventually left and embarked on her musical journey. Van Etten has released several critically acclaimed albums, including Because I Was in Love (2009), Epic (2010), Tramp (2012), Are We There (2014), Remind Me Tomorrow (2019), and We've Been Going About This All Wrong (2022).
