She received Canadian Screen Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in both 2019 and 2021. Primarily a stage actress, Matthews gained recognition for her one-woman cabaret show Girl Crush in 2017. In addition to her acting career, Matthews ventured into television writing in 2021, co-writing the Frankie Drake Mysteries episode 'Life Is a Cabaret.' Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Matthews was previously married to musical theatre actor George Masswohl.
