Sheila Escovedo, known as Sheila E., is an American singer, drummer, and percussionist. Born on December 12, 1957, in Oakland, California, she began her career as a percussionist for the George Duke Band in the mid-1970s. Separating from the group in 1983, Sheila embarked on a successful solo career, releasing her debut album in 1984, which featured her biggest hit, "The Glamorous Life." She also gained recognition with the single "A Love Bizarre." Sheila E. is often referred to as the "Queen of Percussion." She is the daughter of percussionist Pete Escovedo and has Creole-French/African and Mexican-American heritage. Sheila E. is widely respected for her contributions to the music industry.
