Sherri Frances Howard is a former American athlete born on June 1, 1962. She specialized in the 400 meters event and gained recognition for her achievements in track and field. In 1980, at the age of 16, Howard participated in the Olympic trials, where she became the first of two sisters to make the United States Olympic team in the same event. However, due to the political boycott of the 1980 Olympics by President Jimmy Carter, she was unable to compete. Undeterred, Howard continued her athletic journey and represented her country in the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles. There, she won a gold medal in the 4×400 meters relay event alongside her teammates. Howard's dedication and talent contributed to her success as an athlete.
