Shirley J. Mitchell (November 4, 1919 – November 11, 2013) was an American radio, film, and television actress. Born in Toledo, Ohio, she began her career in Chicago, appearing in soap operas and The First Nighter Program. After moving to Los Angeles, Mitchell starred as Louella in The Life of Riley and joined the cast of Fibber McGee and Molly as Alice Darling. She also appeared in Amos & Andy and The Charlotte Greenwood Show. Mitchell's most notable radio role was as Leila Ransom on The Great Gildersleeve. In addition to her radio work, she had small roles in films and made appearances on television shows.
