Shirley Rose Prestia (August 18, 1947 – October 8, 2011) was an American actress known for her guest appearances in popular television series such as Family Ties, Cheers, St. Elsewhere, The Golden Girls, The Facts of Life, 227, Mr. Belvedere, Babylon 5, L.A. Law, NYPD Blue, Step by Step, The Practice, and more. She also had recurring roles on the sitcoms Home Improvement and Dharma & Greg. Prestia appeared in films including Final Analysis, Hoffa, Species, Leave It to Beaver, Wag the Dog, and What Women Want. She was an alumna of California State University, Chico, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater Arts. Prestia was a member of The Groundlings comedy troupe. She was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2004 and retired from acting due to her illness.
