Shota Sometani (染谷 将太) is a Japanese actor known for his protagonist roles in Himizu and Parasyte. Born in Koto, Tokyo, Sometani began his career as a child actor and has since worked in both film and television. He gained recognition for his leading role in the 2009 film Pandora's Box. In 2011, he was awarded the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best New Young Actor at the Venice Film Festival for his performance in Himizu. Sometani has also appeared in films such as Tokyo Park, The Millennial Rapture, and Isn't Anyone Alive? He is married to actress Rinko Kikuchi and they have two children.
