Sid Caesar (1922-2014) was an American comic actor, comedian, and writer known for his pioneering work in live television. He rose to fame in the 1950s with his highly popular shows, Your Show of Shows (1950-1954) and Caesar's Hour (1954-1957), which influenced generations of comedians. Caesar's talent for physical comedy, accents, and facial expressions set him apart as a sketch comic and actor. In addition to his television work, Caesar appeared in several films, including Grease (1978), It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), and History of the World, Part I (1981).
