Sig Hansen

Sigurd Jonny Hansen, born on April 28, 1966, is an American captain of the fishing vessels F/V Northwestern and M/S Stålbas. He gained recognition as a cast member of the documentary television series Deadliest Catch since its inception in 2005. Hansen serves as a technical advisor for the production and stars in the spin-off series, Deadliest Catch: The Viking Returns. Born in Seattle, he is the eldest of three sons and comes from a family with a long lineage of Norwegian-ancestry fishermen. Hansen started fishing at the age of 14 on his family's boat and continued fishing year-round, spending around 10 months per year in Alaska and the Bering Sea. He also occasionally fished mackerel and cod in Norway during the summer.
