Simon Ward Biography
Simon Anthony Fox Ward (16 October 1941 – 20 July 2012) was a British stage and film actor best known for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in the 1972 film Young Winston. Born in Beckenham, Kent, Simon had a passion for acting from an early age. He attended Alleyn's School in London, where he joined the National Youth Theatre at the age of 13. He later trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Ward made his professional stage debut in 1963 and gained recognition in the theatre industry with his role as Dennis in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 1966. He went on to have a successful career, with notable screen roles including Sir Monty Everard in Judge John Deed and Bishop Gardiner in The Tudors.
