    Sloane Crosley (born August 3, 1979) is an American writer known for her humorous essays. She is the author of popular collections such as I Was Told There'd Be Cake, How Did You Get This Number, and Look Alive Out There. Crosley has also worked as a publicist at the Vintage Books division of Random House and served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University's Master of Fine Arts program. She graduated from Connecticut College in 2000. Her debut collection I Was Told There'd Be Cake became a New York Times bestseller and was a finalist for the Thurber Prize for American Humor. Crosley's work has been well-received and optioned for television and film adaptations.
