Sonequa Chaunté Martin-Green is an American actress, born on March 21, 1985, in Russellville, Alabama. She rose to fame for her roles on popular television shows. Martin-Green is best known for portraying Michael Burnham on the streaming series Star Trek: Discovery, and Sasha Williams on The Walking Dead. Prior to her breakthrough, she appeared in independent films and gained recognition for her recurring role as Courtney Wells on The Good Wife. Martin-Green has also had recurring roles on Once Upon a Time as Tamara and on New Girl as Rhonda. Initially planning to become a psychologist, she changed her career path in the tenth grade to pursue acting.
