Sophia Loren Biography
Sophia Loren, born Sofia Costanza Brigida Villani Scicolone on September 20, 1934, is an Italian actress known for her roles in classical Hollywood cinema. Named one of the greatest stars by the American Film Institute, Loren is one of the last surviving major stars from the era. She started her film career at sixteen, appearing in bit parts and minor roles until signing a five-picture contract with Paramount in 1956. Some of her notable films from that time include The Pride and the Passion, Houseboat, and It Started in Naples. Loren gained fame as a sexually emancipated persona and was a prominent sex symbol of the 1950s.
