Sophie Hunter
Sophie Irene Hunter (born March 16, 1978) is an English theatre director, playwright, and former actress and singer. She began her directing career in 2007 with the co-direction of the experimental play The Terrific Electric. Hunter has directed various productions, including an Off-Off-Broadway revival of Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts (2010), the performance art piece Lucretia (2011) based on Benjamin Britten's opera The Rape of Lucretia, and the Phantom Limb Company's Shackleton Project (2011). In 2015, she received critical acclaim for directing Phaedra and The Turn of the Screw at the Happy Days Enniskillen International Beckett Festival and Aldeburgh Music, respectively. Hunter is known for her contribution to the theatre industry as a talented director and playwright.
