Sophie Okonedo (born August 11, 1968) is an English actress and narrator. She is widely recognized for her work in both film and television. Okonedo received critical acclaim and numerous award nominations for her roles, including an Academy Award nomination, three BAFTA TV Award nominations, an Emmy Award nomination, and a Golden Globe Award nomination. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and made her breakthrough in the 1999 Royal National Theatre production of Troilus and Cressida. Okonedo has also achieved success on Broadway, winning a Tony Award for her performance in A Raisin in the Sun. She continues to impress audiences with her talent and versatility in both stage and screen productions.
