Stephanie Dorthea Mills (born March 22, 1957) is an American singer and songwriter. She gained recognition for her role as 'Dorothy' in the original Broadway production of the musical 'The Wiz' from 1974 to 1979, earning seven Tony Awards. Her performance of the iconic song 'Home' from the show became a chart-topping R&B hit and her signature song. Throughout the 1980s, Mills achieved success with five Number 1 R&B hits, including 'I Feel Good All Over' and 'Something in the Way (You Make Me Feel)'. In 1981, she won two Grammy Awards for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Mills' albums, such as 'What Cha Gonna Do with My Lovin' and 'Stephanie', went gold or platinum. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Mills began singing gospel music as a child at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
