Stephen John Fry (born August 24, 1957) is an English actor, comedian, writer, and director. He gained recognition as one half of the comedy duo Fry and Laurie, alongside Hugh Laurie, with whom he starred in 'A Bit of Fry & Laurie' (1989-1995) and 'Jeeves and Wooster' (1990-1993). Fry also appeared in the sketch series 'Alfresco' (1983-1984) and the historical sitcom 'Blackadder' (1986-1989). He is the president of the mental health charity Mind since 2011. Fry has performed in various films including 'Wilde' (1997) where he portrayed Oscar Wilde, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe. He has also appeared in 'Gosford Park' (2001), 'Love & Friendship' (2016), and 'V for Vendetta' (2005).
