Stephen Edwin King (born September 21, 1947) is an American author known for his extensive body of work in the horror, supernatural fiction, suspense, crime, science fiction, and fantasy genres. With over 65 novels and novellas published, including seven under the pen name Richard Bachman, King's books have sold more than 350 million copies worldwide. Many of his works have been adapted into films, television series, miniseries, and comic books, solidifying his reputation as one of the most influential and widely read authors of our time. In addition to his numerous literary accomplishments, King has been honored with prestigious awards, including the Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters from the National Book Foundation in 2003.
