Stephen Root is an American actor, born on November 17, 1951. He gained recognition for his role as Jimmy James on the NBC sitcom NewsRadio from 1995 to 1999. Root also portrayed Milton Waddams in the film Office Space in 1999 and provided the voices of Bill Dauterive and Buck Strickland on the animated series King of the Hill from 1997 to 2010. He has appeared in several Coen brothers films, such as O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000) and No Country for Old Men (2007), among others. Root's notable film credits include DodgeBall (2004), Idiocracy (2006), Get Out (2017), and On the Basis of Sex (2018). He has also had television roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation and The Man in the High Castle, as well as supporting roles in HBO series like Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, Perry Mason, and Succession.
