Steve Halliwell

Stephen Harold Halliwell (born 21 March 1946) is an English actor known for his portrayal of Zak Dingle in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale. Halliwell has played the character since 1994, making him the second longest-serving cast member as of 2023. Born in Bury, Lancashire, Halliwell had various jobs in cotton and paper mills before receiving drama training at the Mountview Theatre School. He was a founding member of the Interchange Theatre in Bury. Halliwell's television career began in the 1970s, and he appeared in numerous British TV series. Aside from his acting, Halliwell has publicly discussed his experiences with depression and his arrest for sleeping rough.
