Stewart McLean Biography
Stewart Edgertson McLean (21 November 1913 – 13 April 1996) was a Manitoba politician and cabinet minister. Born and raised in Dauphin, Manitoba, McLean received a B.A. and an LL.B. from the University of Saskatchewan. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II and was called to the Manitoba bar in 1945. McLean served as Mayor of Dauphin from 1955 to 1958 and was elected to the Manitoba legislature in 1958. As Minister of Education under Dufferin Roblin, he oversaw the consolidation of several school boards. McLean also ran for the leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba in 1967.
