Stockard Channing (born Susan Antonia Williams Stockard; February 13, 1944) is an American actress known for her versatile performances. She gained recognition for playing Betty Rizzo in the iconic film Grease (1978) and for her role as First Lady Abbey Bartlet in the acclaimed television series The West Wing (1999–2006). Channing originated the role of Ouisa Kittredge in the stage and film adaptations of Six Degrees of Separation, receiving an Academy Award nomination for her performance in the 1993 film. She has also appeared in various other films, including The Fortune (1975), Practical Magic (1998), and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (1995). Channing's talents have earned her numerous awards, including a Tony Award and multiple Emmy Awards.
