Stubby Kaye, born Bernard Shalom Kotzin on November 11, 1918, was an American actor, comedian, vaudevillian, and singer. He gained fame for his appearances on Broadway and in film musicals. Kaye originated the roles of Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls and Marryin' Sam in Li'l Abner, introducing the popular songs 'Sit Down, You're Rockin' the Boat' and 'Jubilation T. Cornpone.' He reprised these roles in the movie adaptations. Kaye also had notable roles in Bob Fosse's Sweet Charity, Cat Ballou, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, playing memorable characters such as Herman, Sam the Shade, and Marvin Acme.
