Sue Lawley Biography
Sue Lawley is a retired English television and radio broadcaster. Born on July 14, 1946, in Sedgley, near Dudley, she attended Dudley Girls High School. Lawley studied modern languages at the University of Bristol, where she adopted received pronunciation. She began her career as a trainee reporter on the Western Mail and South Wales Echo. Later, she worked as a subeditor and freelance reporter at BBC Plymouth. Lawley gained prominence as a reporter and presenter on BBC TV's news magazine Nationwide from 1972 to 1975. From 1988 to 2006, she was the presenter of Desert Island Discs on BBC Radio 4. Throughout her career, Lawley has been known for her contributions to television news and current affairs.
