Sue Simmons Biography
Sue Simmons (born May 27, 1942) is an American retired news anchor best known for her role as the lead female anchor at WNBC in New York City from 1980 to 2012. She grew up in Greenwich Village and decided to work instead of pursuing higher education after graduating from Julia Richman High School in 1961. Simmons started her career as a consumer action reporter at WTNH-TV in New Haven, Connecticut, and later worked as an anchor at WBAL-TV in Baltimore and WRC-TV in Washington, DC. Her contract with WNBC was not renewed in 2012, and she retired from broadcasting after her final broadcast on June 15, 2012, shortly after her 70th birthday.
