Suzanne Vega Biography
Suzanne Nadine Vega (Peck; born July 11, 1959) is an American singer-songwriter known for her folk-inspired music. With a career spanning almost 40 years, Vega gained prominence in the mid-1980s. She achieved success with four singles that entered the Top 40 charts in the UK during the 1980s and 1990s, including 'Marlene on the Wall,' 'Left of Center,' 'Luka,' and 'No Cheap Thrill.' 'Tom's Diner,' originally released as an a cappella recording, became a dance hit in 1990 when remixed by English duo DNA with Vega as the featured artist. The song's a cappella version also played a significant role in the development of the MP3 format, earning Vega the title of 'The Mother of the MP3.' Vega has released nine studio albums to date, the most recent being 2016's 'Lover, Beloved: Songs from an Evening.'
