Sylvaine Strike Biography
Sylvaine Strike is a South African actress, writer, and theatre director. She was born in Pretoria and studied drama at the University of Cape Town, where she graduated in 1993. Seeking further training, Strike attended Jacques LeCoq School in Paris from 1998 to 2000, focusing on mime and clown. In 2000, she co-founded Fortune Cookie Theatre, where she currently serves as the artistic director. With Fortune Cookie, Strike has directed notable productions such as Molière's The Miser (2012), Tartuffe (2017), and Tobacco and the Harmful Effects Thereof (2016). She also co-created and starred in the show Black and Blue in 2004. Outside of Fortune Cookie, Strike has directed shows like Miss Dietrich Regrets (2015), DOP (2019), and ECLIPSED (2019).
