Ta-Nehisi Paul Coates is an American author and journalist known for his work on cultural, social, and political issues, particularly focusing on African Americans and white supremacy. Coates gained a wide readership during his time as a national correspondent at The Atlantic. He has also worked for The Village Voice, Washington City Paper, and Time, and has contributed to various publications including The New York Times Magazine and The Washington Post. Coates has published three non-fiction books, including the award-winning 'Between the World and Me,' as well as a Black Panther series and a Captain America series for Marvel Comics. In 2019, he released his first novel, 'The Water Dancer.' Coates was awarded a Genius Grant from the MacArthur Foundation in 2015.
