Tahar Rahim is a French-Algerian actor known for his breakout performance in the 2009 film A Prophet, which earned him the César Award for Best Actor and Most Promising Actor. Born on July 4, 1981, in Belfort, France, Rahim hails from a family of Algerian immigrants. He gained further recognition for his roles as FBI agent Ali Soufan in the miniseries The Looming Tower and as Judas in the film Mary Magdalene, both released in 2018. Rahim's portrayal of Mohamedou Ould Salahi in The Mauritanian (2021) garnered critical acclaim and earned him nominations for a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA Award. He also received a Golden Globe nomination for his role as Charles Sobhraj in the miniseries The Serpent (2021).
