Talia Balsam (born March 5, 1959) is an American television and film actress. She was born in New York City to actors Martin Balsam and Joyce Van Patten. Balsam's ancestry is Russian Jewish (father) and Italian, Dutch, and English (mother). She has appeared in a number of television shows including Happy Days, Dallas, Taxi, Hill Street Blues, Family Ties, and Magnum, P.I.. Balsam also had leading roles in films such as Crawlspace (1986) and In the Mood (1987). She has also appeared in made-for-television movies including Kent State (1981), Nadia (1984), and Consenting Adult (1985). Balsam continues to act in supporting film roles and guest star on television shows.
