Ted Gehring (April 6, 1929 – September 28, 2000) was an American film and television actor. He gained recognition for his recurring role as 'Charlie' in the sitcom Alice, appearing in 16 episodes. Born in Bisbee, Arizona, Gehring started his career in 1965 with a role in The Big Valley. Throughout his career, he often portrayed policemen, villains, and took on anonymous roles in both film and television. Gehring made guest appearances in popular shows like Gunsmoke, M*A*S*H, Star Trek: The Original Series, Bonanza, and Mission: Impossible. Some of his film credits include The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and Nickelodeon.
