Teddy Sears, born Edward M. Sears on April 6, 1977, is an American actor known for his notable roles in various television series. He portrayed Richard Patrick Woolsley on the TNT legal drama series Raising the Bar and Patrick on the first season of the FX anthology horror drama American Horror Story, titled Murder House. Sears also appeared as Dr. Austin Langham on the Showtime period drama series Masters of Sex. One of his most prominent roles is that of DC Comics supervillain Hunter Zolomon / Zoom / 'Jay Garrick' / 'The Flash' / Black Flash in the television series The Flash from 2015 to 2023. Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland, Sears attended the Landon School before playing football at the University of Maryland. He later transferred to the University of Virginia, where he graduated with a degree in business management in 1999. Sears briefly worked in New York City before landing his first role on the daytime series One Life to Live.
