Terrence Hardiman

Terrence Hardiman (6 April 1937 – 18 April 2023) was an English actor known for his portrayal of authority figures in film and television. He played various roles including Nazi-era personnel in shows like Secret Army, Colditz, Wish Me Luck, and Enemy at the Door, as well as a British officer in When the Boat Comes In. Hardiman also portrayed a police inspector in Prime Suspect, Juliet Bravo, and Softly, Softly, a doctor in Home to Roost and The Royal, a barrister in Crown Court and The Brittas Empire, and a judge in The Bill and The Courtroom. He gained recognition for his role as an evil headmaster in The Demon Headmaster and as prime minister Ramsay MacDonald in Richard Attenborough's Gandhi. Hardiman was born in Forest Gate, Essex and studied English at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. He was also an active member of The Marlowe Society during his time at Cambridge.
