Thelma Ruby Biography
Thelma Ruby, also known as Thelma Ruby-Frye, is a British actress. Born Thelma Wigoder on March 23, 1925, in Leeds, she grew up in an Orthodox Jewish family. Her mother, Ruby, was an actress, and her father, Louis, was a dentist from Lithuania. Ruby joined the Entertainments National Service Association in 1944 and performed for British troops. She appeared in Bernard Kops' play, The Hamlet of Stepney Green, in 1958 and had a role in the British film Live Now, Pay Later in 1962. In 1984, she performed as Golde in Fiddler on the Roof alongside Topol in the West End. Ruby made an appearance on ITV's Coronation Street in 1996.
