Thembi Mtshali

Thembi Mtshali-Jones (born 7 November 1949) is a South African actress known for her roles in popular television serials such as Sgudi 'Snaysi, Stokvel, Silent Witness, and Imbewu. Born in Sabhoza near Ulundi, Durban, she grew up in KwaMashu Township after her parents' divorce. Despite leaving school due to a pregnancy, she went on to become one of South Africa's most celebrated artists. In addition to acting, Mtshali-Jones is also a renowned singer, playwright, and an Associate Teaching Artist at Global Arts Corps in Kosovo. She has also worked as a trainer in Cambodia. She has had residencies at Gallaudet University in Washington DC and the University of Louisville in the USA, where she received recognition for her contribution to the arts.
